Jazz harmony, Brazilian rhythm, and the melodies of Kazakh culture — in one voice.

Almas Zhalgasbek is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, producer, and multidisciplinary musician whose work bridges jazz, samba, bossa nova, opera and contemporary Kazakh music. Raised in a musical family, he developed a strong foundation in classical vocal training before expanding into songwriting, arranging, and music production.

Almas earned his Bachelor's degree in Opera Singing from the Haute École de Musique de Genève and later completed a Master's degree in Music Pedagogy, followed by a Master's degree in Music Performance at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) in Switzerland. Alongside his academic studies, he explored the relationship between cultural identity and vocal pedagogy, researching how traditional musical practices shape contemporary singing.

As an artist, Almas is passionate about introducing fresh sounds to the Kazakh music scene. His music blends sophisticated jazz harmony, Brazilian rhythms, and modern production with the melodies and spirit of Kazakh culture. His goal is not only to create original music but also to broaden the musical landscape by bringing genres such as jazz, blues, bossa nova, and samba to a wider audience.

Beyond performing, Almas works as a music producer, arranger, and sound designer, collaborating with musicians across different genres while developing projects that connect high artistic standards with contemporary audiences. He is also actively involved in organizing creative collaborations and supporting emerging artists.

Driven by a desire to represent Kazakhstan on the international stage, Almas continues to build a career that combines artistry, education, and cultural exchange—creating music that is both deeply rooted in his heritage and open to the world.
